 The co-design process from February to May, National Prototype Trial from June to September and assessment period in October all drew on the expertise of the profession to inform the refinement of the certification model proposed.
 
March 2014
 
Round Two of the Australian Principal Certification National Tour was held across Australia in March 2014. The National Tour provided Australian principals the opportunity to:
contribute to the national discussion about the impact of principal leadership on student learning 
nominate a Yr 6-12 student representative leader to participate in a simultaneous forum to recognise principal leadership 
provide feedback on the draft Australian Principal Certification Program Model.
 
October 2013
 In October 2013 PAI released the consultation paper, Quality Educational Leadership through Principal Certification, to invite input from principals, the principal associations and key stakeholders into the further development of principal certification. The consultation paper presented a 7-point plan to guide the design and operation of the Australian Principal Certification Program.
 
 
October-December 2013
 The Australian Principal Certification Program National Tour, Round One was held across Australia from October - December 2013.
 
A series of forums was held with principals, principals’ associations and key stakeholders in each state and territory to clarify and develop the Australian Principal Certification Program. The forums were formative and designed to explore in depth the substantive issues which would need to be addressed for the effective development and successful operation of a principal certification program. 
 
The National Consultation Report Round One presents the information that was gathered through national consultation conducted by PAI during October - December 2013. 
 
 
September 2013
 The Melbourne Roundtable - a conversation to progress the Australian Principal Certification Program was held in September 2013.
 
The Roundtable heralded the launch of an extensive national consultation process to inform the design and development of the Australian Principal Certification program. The roundtable gave key principal association leaders the opportunity to:
participate in a national conversation focused on leadership
contribute to and engage with the first iteration of consultation materials
represent the voice of the profession
understand the important role they play throughout the consultation process

 The National Forum was held on 5 March 2013 and harnessed the views of principals and educational leaders.
 
A Certification Discussion paper was tabled as the conversation catalyst and feedback, advice and commentary was captured to inform the Certification Summary report.

November 2012
 In November 2012, the Board of PAI endorsed the development of a voluntary Australian Principal Certification Program. The Board established a Reference Panel of principals to guide the development and a Change Team of principals to work as advocates.
